I've seen a quote flying around the internet, so I decided to google it. The quote is supposedly from Martin Luther King Jr., but seemed way to apt to current events to be unaltered. It turns out to be partially falsely attributed.
I think the original poster left out the opening quote, and the next assumed the whole thing was MLKj. The first sentence was perhaps by the original poster of this quote, but got mixed in by all the re-posters. The rest is apparently MLKj. It should read like this:
I mourn the loss of thousands of precious lives, but I will not rejoice in the death of one, not even an enemy. "Returning hate for hate multiplies hate, adding deeper darkness to a night already devoid of stars. Darkness cannot drive out darkness: only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate: only love can do that." -Martin Luther King, Jr
This mis-attribution does not change the value of the words, let that point be made; but let us all know what we are saying, and not be misled.
